On the morning of May 6, the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) held a ceremony in Hanoi to announce the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) Report for 2024. Phu Tho province ranked 8th out of 63 provinces and cities in the PCI, improving by two spots compared to 2023.
During the ceremony, medals and certificates were awarded to leaders of provinces and cities that demonstrated excellent economic management, with the top 10 provinces and cities achieving the highest PCI scores in 2024.
According to VCCI’s announcement, Phu Tho’s PCI score for 2024 reached 70.35 points, placing it 8th among the 63 provinces and cities, up two positions from 2023.
This marks the second consecutive year that Phu Tho has been among the top 10 provinces and cities with the highest PCI scores in Vietnam.
The PCI 2024 report also highlighted Phu Tho’s performance in several key component indexes, including market entry (7.76 points), land access (6.77 points), transparency (5.96 points), time cost (8.01 points), informal cost (7.08 points), fair competition (7.02 points), government dynamism and pioneering (6.63 points), business support policies (7.19 points), labor training (7.43 points), and legal institutions, security, and order (6.90 points).

2024 marks a significant milestone in the nearly 20-year journey of implementing the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI), an initiative designed to reflect the business community’s views on the quality of economic management and the investment environment in Vietnam.
Over the past two decades, PCI has become a reliable tool for driving administrative reform, improving the business environment, and enhancing local competitiveness, contributing to the development of the private economic sector—the foundation of a dynamic and sustainable economy.
