According to a newly released report by the General Statistics Office (Ministry of Finance) on the morning of March 6, Phu Tho recorded an impressive industrial production index (IIP) growth of 47.3% in the first two months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, the highest in the country. This remarkable achievement comes as Vietnam’s overall industrial production continues to recover, posting a national increase of 7.2%, higher than the 6.5% growth seen in the same period of 2024.
The strong surge in Phu Tho’s industrial production was primarily driven by the breakthrough performance of the processing and manufacturing sector, which plays a crucial role in the province’s economic structure. The production index for this sector increased by an outstanding 48.5%, significantly outpacing many other localities. Additionally, the electricity production and distribution industry in the province also experienced notable growth, further contributing to Phu Tho’s overall economic expansion.

Besides Phu Tho, several other provinces also recorded high IIP growth, including Tra Vinh (40.5%), Bac Kan (28.1%), Bac Giang (26.3%), and Hoa Binh (21.4%). Conversely, some localities saw declines, with Ha Tinh decreasing by 11.1%, Ca Mau by 4.6%, Cao Bang by 3.2%, and Quang Ngai by 0.5%.
Phu Tho’s position as the leader in industrial production growth in early 2025 reflects the province’s success in attracting investment, expanding its processing and manufacturing industries, and ensuring a stable energy supply. These factors are contributing significantly to local economic development and reinforcing Phu Tho’s role as a key industrial hub in northern Vietnam.
