On the morning of July 22, Mr. Tran Duy Dong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee, chaired a working session with the General Director of Honda Vietnam. Representing Honda Vietnam were Ms. Sayaka Arai, General Director, and Ms. Do Thu Hoang, Deputy General Director and Production Director.

At the meeting, General Director Sayaka Arai extended her congratulations to Phu Tho on its expanded administrative boundaries following the recent merger and expressed appreciation for the province’s consistent support. She thanked the provincial leadership for always accompanying businesses, listening attentively, and promptly resolving difficulties, thereby creating favorable conditions for Honda Vietnam’s production and business activities.

Thanks to Phu Tho’s proactive support, Honda Vietnam has maintained strong business performance despite widespread challenges. The company currently holds approximately 86% of Vietnam’s motorbike market share.

Affirming Honda Vietnam’s commitment to complying with Vietnamese laws and its desire to continue investing, expanding operations, and developing new products in Vietnam, Ms. Arai highlighted the company’s focus on environmentally friendly and modern technologies. She noted that Honda Vietnam is actively researching and applying green and electrification technologies to reduce emissions. Notably, in April this year, Honda launched its first electric motorbike model manufactured in Phu Tho—marking a milestone in the company’s electrification strategy and underscoring its commitment to sustainable development in the Vietnamese market.

Sharing international experiences in transitioning from gasoline to electric vehicles, Ms. Arai emphasized the importance of a carefully designed roadmap to ensure a safe, efficient, and sustainable transition. She urged policymakers and stakeholders to allow adequate preparation time for this process and called on Phu Tho province to support Honda Vietnam’s proposals. On this occasion, Ms. Arai also made several recommendations, including adjusting the special consumption tax on hybrid vehicles and establishing a clear roadmap and technical standards for electric vehicles in Vietnam.

On behalf of the provincial leadership, Chairman Tran Duy Dong expressed gratitude to Ms. Sayaka Arai and the Honda Vietnam delegation for their visit and working session with the province. He recognized and highly appreciated Honda Vietnam’s contributions to local socio-economic development, especially in the areas of social welfare and safe driving training.

Affirming that every investor in Phu Tho is considered a “citizen of Phu Tho” Mr. Dong emphasized that the success of businesses is also the success of the province. He pledged continued support, promising to maintain a favorable, transparent, and stable investment and business environment for all enterprises, including Honda Vietnam.

In response to Honda Vietnam’s proposals, Chairman Tran Duy Dong encouraged the company to closely monitor national policy developments and proactively adjust its business plans to remain aligned with upcoming regulations. He also called on Honda Vietnam to promptly develop a roadmap for hybrid vehicle production in Vietnam and to continue expanding its electric motorbike manufacturing capacity to better meet consumer demand and align with the current green development trend.
